This time, I review Yashica ML 50mm F1.9.
This is a CONTAX / Yashica mount lens.
My enthusiasm for vintage lenses gave me some satisfaction when I tried several cine lenses. Therefore, I was going to end that enthusiasm there.
However, I wanted to use a lens made by Tomioka Optics a little more, and purchased this CONTAX / Yashica mount vintage lens.
Yashica ML 50mm f / 1.9 is a lens for CONTAX / Yashica mount SLR
In 1973, Yashica began manufacturing a new SLR in collaboration with Carl Zeiss. Carl Zeiss has revived the “CONTAX” brand. The new SLR uses the CONTAX / Yashica mount developed by Carl Zeiss.
There are two types of SLR with CONTAX / Yashica mount: CONTAX brand and Yashica brand.
This Yashica ML 50mm f / 1.9 is a lens for Yashica brand SLR. Of course, you can also use CONTAX SLR that uses the same mount.
Whether this lens is manufactured by Tomioka Optics cannot be determined because it was supplied by multiple optical manufacturers.
Select a mount adapter (to use Yashica ML 50mm F1.9 with a digital camera)
Yashica ML 50mm F1.9 is a CONTAX / Yashica mount lens.
To use a CONTAX / Yashica mount lens with a digital camera, a compatible mount adapter is required.
Using with a mirrorless camera
For example, to use this lens with a SONY mirrorless camera, use an adapter called CY-NEX (CO/Y-NEX). For mirrorless cameras, not just SONY, adapters compatible with almost all manufacturers’ cameras are available.
Use with digital SLR
When using this lens with a digital SLR, a Canon EOS EF mount camera is available with a compatible adapter called CY-EOS (CO/Y-EOS). When using with other digital SLRs, you will need to select a mount adapter with a correction lens.
Photo Samples with Yashica ML 50mm F1.9 attached to SONY NEX-5R
I took this lens when I returned to Shizuoka Prefecture in July 2018. Sony NEX-5R was used as the camera body.
This day was a very hot day.
This is the eggplant of my home garden. Swirly Bokeh was created in the photo.
I just met vintage lenses, Swirly Bokeh lenses only knew the Helios 44 series, but now I know there are various Swirly Bokeh lenses.
The minimum forcus distance of Yashica ML 50mm F1.9 is 50cm. A very large Bokeh occurred in the close-up photo.
Previously I reviewed the same Yashica brand Auto Yashinon 5.5cm F1.8 (M42 mount). I feel that the color characteristics of the photo are lighter than the lens.
The resolution of the focus part of the photo is amazing.
This is a city called Azamino. It’s a city with a lot of ups and downs, and stairs are everywhere. I remember that hot day when I look at this picture.
Yashica ML 50mm F1.9 Review Summary
This time, I reviewed Yashica ML 50mm F1.9.
This is the first CONTAX / Yashica mount lens I purchased.
I never imagined that Swirly Bokeh was created in that photo. This lens is a Swirly Bokeh lens comparable to the Helios 44 series.
In addition, this lens has a great Bokeh when used in close-up photography.
Thank you for reading to the end.
